Reflection of fashion in African Cultural Identities

Over time, there has been rise in interest on African anthropology and a high percentage rate of change in fashion. With the paradigm shift in culture and society, it has glowed. This sparks a greater interest in the study of clothing variation with an eye toward its unity. The area of clothing, which is known for self-conscious, change has been a crucial instrument for identifying affiliation or classifying individuals and groups of cultures, and as such has had a considerable impact on the categorization of subcultures. The dressed body is considered to be both the subject of and the object of dress practice in this paper, which examines “reflection of fashion in African Cultural Identities” a variety of approaches and concepts for a perceptible trend as a focus on agency, practice, and performance. In clothing study, the process making and its consumption site are also clear. The human clothing has typically been considered to be something that represents something else rather than being something in and of itself, but recent initiatives to reengage materiality indicate that this perspective is shifting. Findings shows that some scholars look at the significance of apparel in the context of the complete economic circuit and the unequal connections between its participants, there hasn't been much research on the challenges surrounding clothing and its effect on African culture.

Determination of Nutrient Composition and Antibacterial Activity 0f Snail (Archachatina marginata) Slime

Snail slime has been perceived to make snail flesh unattractive and is usually removed from the snail meat to be discarded as waste during home processing. This study evaluated the slime of Achatina marginata snail for its proximate and mineral compositions and antibacterial properties following established techniques. The standard procedures of AOAC (1990) were followed to analyze the proximate composition and mineral analysis while agar well diffusion was done to determine the snail slime’s antibacterial properties against Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella typhi. The analysis's findings showed that the slime's proximate composition (%) was moisture 88.15 ± 0.07 %, ash 1.385 ± 0.04%, crude fat 0.12 ± 0.01%, crude protein 1.305 ± 0.02% and carbohydrate contents 6.29 ± 0.08%. According to the results of the mineral analysis, the sodium content of the slime was highest (78.3 mg/100 g) followed by calcium (66.25 mg/100 g) and then phosphorus (32.61 mg/100 g) and potassium (27.18 mg/100g). Magnesium was moderately present in the slime (13.72mg/100g) while iron and zinc were present at low amounts (1.83 mg/100 g and 1.07 mg/100 g respectively). The result of the antibacterial activity revealed that the slime exhibited a higher inhibitory power against Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella typhi with zones of inhibition of 24.83 mm and 19.00 mm respectively when compared to levofloxacin with zones of inhibition of 23.17 mm and 16.33 mm against Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella typhi respectively. This study therefore encourages the use of slime from Archachatina marginata for nutrition and medicinal preparations.

Dohne Merino sheep production: Progress, Challenges and Prospects

Sheep production is multi-dimensional in utility, promoting global human and economic growth and, most notably, food security (dietary protein source for humans). The Dohne Merino (DM) breed and its unique features, such as adaptation, lambing rate, survival rate, maternal quality, wool traits, and meat quality, have earned international recognition and acceptance as one of the best among sheep breeds. Presently, this dual-purpose breed is in high demand by both major and minor sheep-producing countries by both commercial and smallholder farmers. It can be assumed and projected that by 2030, Dohne merino will have taken a more significant percentage of the genetic composition of all the sheep breeds in the World. This could play a huge role in the national development goal of food security for all by 2030 adopted by South Africa from WHO international development plans. Therefore, this paper aimed to highlight the unique features of Dohne merino and its prospect in South Africa and the World's food security by 2030.

The findings indicate a positive correlation between entrepreneurship development and employment generation in SMEs, highlighting the crucial role of entrepreneurship development in creating jobs in this sector. Additionally, the results demonstrate that changes in employment generation in SMEs can be attributed to entrepreneurship development. Consequently, entrepreneurship development forms the foundation for promoting employment generation in small and medium scale enterprises.
